2016 Shrimp and Lincod Season Opens

Here is Tony Floor’s Tackle Box report for May:

Here shrimpy, shrimpy, shrimpy! Come on home, baby, right into your daddy’s shrimp pot!

I’ve been waiting for the month of May for weeks, thinking about writing about one of my favorite months of the year to be on the saltwater. Big spot prawn shrimp, baby, hot off the boil of a light saltwater potion, peeled immediately and dipped in melted butter. Ohhhhh mercy!

May delivers an open menu of sport fishing opportunities on the waters of Puget Sound and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, including the San Juan Islands. For saltwater anglers, fresh off a wet and cold El Niño winter, we’re ready for some injections of Vitamin D, thinking about herding big spot prawns into our pots. And for some saltwater anglers, the Puget Sound lingcod season opens today (May 1st) with halibut fishing set to open May 7.
